Set to premiere this Sunday on the CW is a romantic comedy fantasy series called Valentine. The show takes place in posh and modern Hollywood Hills but it involves ancient Greek gods living among mere mortals.
Dexter guest starrer Jamie Murray (as pictured) is Grace Valentine, the mightly Aphrodite, who helps people find their true love. Grace lives with her son Danny (Eros) and the other members of her family, including a local LA woman, who is a romantic novelist.
The show is described as silly but engaging. It has the elements of what Love Boat used to be, only with a touch of Pushing Daisies whimsy.
It sounds like the kind of show I’d watch but I’m not counting on this one taking off with viewers, generally.
Here’s a teaser:

Catch Rosie O’ Donnell on Nov. 26 at 8PM for a TV variety special on NBC. Rosie’s Variety hour will feature a “smorgasbord of celebrity guests” as well as a number of musical performances and tons of prize giveaways for both studio audiences and home viewers.
VP for alternative programming and special, Craig Plestis says…
“We want to show people that variety can be done in a new and inventive way for 2008. We hope to do it in ways you haven’t seen before. It’s going to be the YouTube of variety shows.”
If the show goes well, it could be a regular thing.
Rosie’s was last seen on The View, which she left after a heated debate went wrong with one of her co-stars. After that incident, her time on TV has been limited with only a guest appearance on Nip/Tuck and more recently, Little Britain USA.
