Well, this was quick.
I just posted about this a couple of days ago since the show just premiered, also a couple of days ago. But NBC has apparently canceled Rosie O’ Donnell’s variety show because of poor reviews and really bad ratings.
Rosie writes what she thinks went wrong with her show on her blog —
there will b no more
no ratings
bad reviews
yet still - a thrill 4 me
not enough rehearsal
the live part wasnt a plus
the in theater experience didnt transfer to tv
…
we were going for ed sullivan
and theres only one carol b
and hey
i gave it my best shot
The show was one of the lowest rated programs that one and only time it aired (Wednesday evening, a day before Thanksgiving). NBC intended it for release during the holidays and was planning on ordering it to series should it go well. Well, it didn’t.
But Rosie is fine.
Although, formats like this aren’t really dead. She herself said there are more variety programs coming soon. Well, maybe she can guest in them.

With their constant bickering and shouting matches on TV, one would wonder if the women of The View are ever really friendly with each other in real life. When the cameras are off and their isn’t an audience in front of them, what are they like to each other?
According to Barbra Walters, they are happy with each other’s company and are getting along fine. She says in an interview —
“I don’t know of any five women who get along as well as we do.”
She continues to say, they see each other outside of work. And in fact just had dinner with Whoopi and Joy (Elisabeth and Sherry were sick). They will also be having a Christmas get together at Whoopi’s soon.
Barbra Walters think their show’s success is because of this kind of friendship —
“We’re happy and the show’s success reflects that.”

Brooke Shields insisted her beloved chick show, Lipstick Jungle is not yet canceled. She says they are still working, no one has been asked to close their offices. But clearly, the network bosses have other ideas for Lipstick Jungle is nowhere to be found in their January line-up.
The show has been previously moved from its Wednesday slot to Friday, and then moved to an earlier hour on that same Friday slot. It has also been reported that it was canceled along with My Own Worst Enemy.
Last I heard, the show will be given four more weeks to air its remaining episodes until January 9th. Until then, the fate of the show seems to be in limbo.
And Brooke Shields has to know which page their NBC bosses are on.

Were you able to watch Rosie O’Donnell’s new variety show on NBC? It was an attempt at reviving the failing network, by bringing back old school entertainment. The show had songs and dances on prime time. Not the kind of songs and dances you see on that quirky series like Eli Stone. It was songs and dances of the vaudeville kind, like how they deliver entertainment back in the 50’s or 60’s.
Aside from that, there were also bits of stand-up comedy, novelty musical acts, garish costumes and set designs, the whole she-bang. All that was lacking was a fat lady singing at the end of the show. Wait a minute…I think there was some of that, too.
Unfortunately, hopes to revive this genre were crushed when the ratings returned overnight, for the show only earned no more than 1.2Million in the preliminary adults 18-49 bracket. The show probably premiered at the wrong time (it’s the night before Thanksgiving, people are busy traveling back home to families!). That, or this whole idea actually sucked.

The women of How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders, are both going to have a date with the stork this spring.
Alyson Hannigan previously announced she was pregnant with her first child with husband Alex Denisof. While People Magazine reported today, Cobie Smulders will also be a parent along with boyfriend, Taram Killam.
It thrills me to learn that they’re both pregnant at the same time!

I wonder how they are going to play this up in their show? Alyson, tiny as she is, is already showing , while Cobie will most likely begin to show her pregnant belly soon, too.
Will they incorporate the pregnancies in the episodes? I mean, if not in the story itself (like Lily, Alyson’s married character, getting pregrant), they can do something wild about this, considering how crazy the show develops its plots. How about an episode where Ted tells his kids the story of how his lady friends got pregnant at the same time?

If it’s ultimate girl power you want, then look no further than the series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
I admit I have yet to go through the first season. I have also read that the second season currently airing is not living up to the expectations of network bosses in terms of ratings but, nevertheless, it has been giving a full season order.
In the current season, if the two strong female leads weren’t enough, I understand that they have added yet another kick-ass female cast member in the person of Catherine Weaver. Now, I don’t know what role she plays on this show (don’t spoil me as I’m planning to marathon both seasons consecutively, soon!) but if you’ve been following it, these scenes should be familiar to you. This is a video compilation of the ultimate girl power ensemble in TV today. Men, be very, very afraid of these ladies —

It seems CW is still very happy with Tyra Banks and her Top Model show. The network, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter (TH) is almost close to renewing it for their 13th Season (or Cycle, as Tyra and her staff would like to call it), while the 12th Cycle is waiting to air in the spring.
With the recent success of their show (the 11th cycle which just ended upped in ratings by 21%!), it’s easier to understand CW’s eagerness. American’s Next Model continues to be one of the channel’s biggest shows after five years (?) on the air.
In addition to this, the CW is also willing to take in Tyra’s talk program, The Tyra Banks Show and run it in their daytime programming. This talk show is currently running on syndication care of Warner Bros.

I’m not one to dabble in blind gossips here on GirlPowerTV but this one seems hard not to print. The blind news goes —-
Which character on an popular TV drama is going to be killed off? While the character is one of the key members of the cast, the actor or actress’ bad behavior has caused friction within the cast and has exhausted the patience of the show’s head honcho. - Source
The popular consensus is that this refers to Grey’s Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl.
It’s no secret there’s been some misunderstanding between her and the show’s team of writers. Her withdrawal from the Emmy’s last year made a lot of noise, especially when she said her character didn’t have enough material from the writers, to even merit an acting nomination.
It’s also no secret — someone’s leaving the cast. It’s been in the news since May.
And with the way Izzie is behaving in the last few episodes on Grey’s Anatomy? Can anyone actually explain what is going on with her delusions about her very dead boyfriend, Denny? While the writers deny Izzie has some sort of life-threatening disease (aka brain tumor), the woman clearly isn’t sane anymore…which means she isn’t fit to work as a “doctor”….which means she’s leaving the hospital one way or another.
Do you think Izzie’s days are numbered?

Cupid was a short-lived TV series back in the 90’s. It was from Rob Thomas, the creator of Veronica Mars. The old series starred Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall. And the remake will still involve the same creator, but will now star Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson.
Cupid is the story of a man who believes himself to be the Greek god, Cupid. He believes his mission is to find 100 couples and make them fall in love, happily ever after.
Sarah Paulson stars as Cupid’s therapist and I’m so glad to finally have her back on TV after Studio 60 went off the year two years ago.
Cupid is scheduled to air next year.
Here’s the teaser trailer —-

Quite eager for this to happen already as I think Tricia Helfer is one helluva woman!
The actress is reportedly joining Chuck in a multi-episode arc. She is set to play Chuck’s “new girlfriend”. She is also an agent, a role I think she can pull off with ease. And her character may also be a possible replacement for Sarah in this area.
That doesn’t mean Sarah’s out of the picture though. But of course, the writers aren’t going to give us a concrete Chuck and Sarah love story this early. Things shouldn’t always come so easy with them!
What about that Chuck, huh? Is he collecting his own version of the Bond girls?
