The Women at The Golden Globes
The Golden Globes Nominations have been released early today. Are you happy with the list? Did your favorites make it? In keeping with the site’s theme, here are the female nominees for Television:
Best Performance, Actress - TV Drama
- Sally Field, Brothers and Sisters
- Mariska Hargitay, Law and Order: SVU
- January Jones, Mad Men
- Anna Paquin, True Blood
- Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer
My heart is out for Sally Field. I just love her Nora on Brothers and Sisters. But as far as the noms are concerned, she was better at it in the series’ earlier seasons. So I am not betting on her winning. January Jones and Kyra Sedgwick are the two top contenders. And I’ve been hearing how good True Blood is and how great Anna Paquin is, so she, too gets a big, big chance at winning this.
Best Performance, Actress - TV Comedy
- Christina Applegate, Samantha Who?
- America Ferrera, Ugly Betty
- Tina Fey, 30 Rock
- Debra Messing, The Starter Wife
- Mary-Louise Parker, Weeds
Except for Weeds, I watch all of the women on this list. This year has been very good to Tina Fey, so maybe she will bring home the trophy. But America Ferrera’s take on Betty is always hilarious and well-delivered, I can bet you she will make it harder for Tina to win.
Best Performance, Supporting Actress TV
- Eileen Atkins, Cranford
- Laura Dern, Recount
- Melissa George, In Treatment
- Rachel Griffiths, Brothers and Sisters
- Dianne Wiest, In Treatment
I am only familiar with Rachel Griffiths work, since I follow her show weekly since the beginning. I have seen parts of Recount and In Treatment, but not enough to gauge whether the nominees deserve it.
What are your thoughts on who will win this?
