Unimpressive Dushku On Dollhouse

Published by Rachel at 10:33 pm under Primetime Drama Edit This

Dollhouse premiered on Fox the other night to what unfortunately is a disappointing opening.

Dollhouse Elisa Dushku

The storyline is weak and uninteresting, but I guess one has to hope it will get better in the following episodes, so I am holding out actual judgment until I’ve seen a few more.

The biggest disappointment for me, though, lies in Elisa Dushku’s performance. Her character calls for versatility because Echo is programmed to have the mind and personality of different types of people, depending on the situation. But it doesn’t seem as though Dushku portrays this well. I am not convinced. Even when she acts doe-eyed while her character is not on assignment, it looks forced and spaced.

Does Dollhouse have what it takes to be a hit? Was the bar and expectations so high for this series that many ended up disappointed?

Did you watch Dollhouse last night and enjoyed it?

I thought it was ok. Not great and not horrible. The premise was interesting, but I thought they didn’t really execute it that well.

I’m not a Buffy fan, and I somehow managed to miss most of the hype, so I didn’t have big expectations. If I had, I’m sure I would have been disappointed, but as it was, I thought the show was mildly entertaining.
