Dead Like Me, Life After Death TV on DVD
I finally had the pleasure of watching Dead Like Me, Life After Death. This is a movie sequel ( released direct to DVD) to the series Dead Like Me, which was canceled sometime in 2003. The series was created by Bryan Fuller and this was the inspiration behind Pushing Daisies.
Considering how brilliant the TV show was, the movie was actually quite a disappointment for me. I wasn’t quite sure if it was because characters were changed, removed or added in the movie version, it just didn’t have the right groove. The storyline was lacking in depth, it makes me wonder why they would have to do a movie anyway. Although someone watching this for the first time, will have no confusion as the TV episodes have little to do with what the movie is all about. It is decidedly a stand alone story, and well, one that doesn’t measure up to how great the TV series was (which was unfortunately canceled because the premise of Dead Like Me wasn’t so mainstream, really).
Dead Like Me, Life After Death is a nice trip back to nostalgia. But it isn’t good enough to make me miss the show entirely.
The DVD is now out and may be ordered at your preferred online DVD stores.
