Oust Bikini Girl!

Published by Rachel under Reality TV Edit This

Bikini GirlI am not sure why the show is keeping her a bit longer. I’d rather not watch when she is on and I am sure others feel the same way. So how is she going to bring in ratings? She is hardly entertaining and I watch American Idol for entertainment.

Aside from that, there are several other singers who got cut last night during Hollywood round, who had better attitude and are definitely way more talented than her. Even when the Top 36 names have already been leaked (and thank goodness she isn’t there!) I can’t help but think of that one wasted spot on her. That could have been someone else’s chance….like that woman from last night, who begged her way back and said it was her husband’s birthday that time, she didn’t wanna disappoint him. She deserved the spot more than this woman.

I do not think I’m the only one annoyed by this Bikini Girl trying out on American Idol. Holler in the comment space if you are too annoyed.

She needs to get off TV.

Lisa Kudrow’s Genealogy-themed Reality Show in April

Lisa Kudrow

Highly anticipating this Lisa Kudrow produced Reality TV show for NBC called Who Do You Think You Are?

Set to begin on Mondays at 8 PM, April 20th, the program is actually based on a British series. The show will feature big named celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Susan Sarandon, as they try to trace back their family trees…which sounds like fun, sentimental and maybe highly emotional. NBC says there is no other program quite like Think today and promises this to be personal but entertaining.

Lisa Kudrow won’t be in it, I suppose. But she is a big part of this show as the executive producer.

I wonder though if she will have her former Friends star in it, too. That would be lovely to watch!

Are You Liking Kara DioGuardi on American Idol So Far?

Kara DioGuardi

I only caught a few minutes of American Idol last night but I think I got to the best part where this bikini-clad lady went to try at the auditions (and got in! What was that about?). But that’s not who I wanna talk about today. I wanna set my sights on the new judge, the one people say is Simon Cowell’s match — Kara DioGuardi.

Since I didn’t see much of her then, the only thing that marked on my mind as I was watching her was that she had a pretty spectacular voice. When she sang a few notes from that piece the bikini-clad lady sang, she did better. I knew she wrote songs. But she sings good enough to do an album herself.

What do you think of her? Was she quite the meanie last night or was she another Paula Abdul?

Are You Ready for a Paula Abdul Daytime Talk Show?

Paula Abdul

The National Enquirer reports that Paula is considering getting her very own daytime talk; one that can rival Tyra’s own talk show will have average people as guests.

I can’t even begin to imagine how a talk show with Paula Abdul is going to work out. Isn’t she the one who is incoherent when it comes to speaking her opinion on American Idol? But apparently, studio executives think Paula has the “personal attributes” to make a good host, going with logic that it’s her heart and the way she connects to people that may make her one likely daytime talk TV host.

Well, then…even executives make bad decisions. I really can’t see how this will work with Paula. What about you?

Can you smell desperation in the air?

Published by Rachel under Reality TV Edit This

Paula AbdulI don’t know about you. But something about Paula talking about the stalker who died outside her home, four weeks after that incident happened, smells “publicity” all over it.

Reports say she’s blaming the show’s producers for enabling the situation, since this stalker apparently was able to audition on the show  —

Abdul, 46, said earlier this week in an XM Satellite Radio interview that she had asked Idol producers not to put Goodspeed on the program. “I said, ‘This girl is a stalker of mine. Please do not let her in.’ Everyone knew. I was shaking,” Abdul said.  — People

See, American Idol is airing next month. It still remains a top rated show alright but frankly, after seven seasons, its novelty is wearing thin.

When it was having its run last year, you can’t go online or check out the entertainment sections in the news without a new controversy about the show every week. Stories running had something to do with the judges, the contestants or the whole show itself.

I’d have to with American Idol’s former producer, Nigel Lythgoe, when he said —

“It happened about four weeks ago. For it to come back four weeks later, I’m really sad we’re still talking about it.”

Yep, why can’t Paula just keep quiet? Because it’s a juicy story. In-fighting between the judge and the Idol producers? Juicy and intriguing….it’s going to make the news round and any news Idol generates is always publicity, right?

Changes for Tyra

Published by Rachel under Reality TV Edit This

Tyra BanksIt seems CW is still very happy with Tyra Banks and her Top Model show. The network, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter (TH) is almost close to renewing it for their 13th Season (or Cycle, as Tyra and her staff would like to call it), while the 12th Cycle is waiting to air in the spring.

With the recent success of their show (the 11th cycle which just ended upped in ratings by 21%!), it’s easier to understand CW’s eagerness. American’s Next Model continues to be one of the channel’s biggest shows after five years (?) on the air.

In addition to this, the CW is also willing to take in Tyra’s talk program, The Tyra Banks Show and run it in their daytime programming. This talk show is currently running on syndication care of Warner Bros.

Brittany McKey Sullivan is Next Top Model

McKey Top ModelAmerica’s Next Top Model crowned their 11th winner in the final episode that aired last November 19th. Brittany McKey Sullivan, a boxing enthusiast bested other aspirants and is this year’s Top Model.

Only 19 years old, the former self-confessed tomboy from Illinois defeated Samantha Potter with her memorable poses and unique runway struts. The stunner was built for high fashion modelling.

Of her win, she says —

“I’m so proud of myself right now, this was the last thing for me, I was going to try out and this was going to be it. Now I’m America’s Next Top Model and from here this isn’t the end. I’m going to keep going and keep rising, it’s just like a dream come true.”

Tyra Banks, the show’s creator, producer and host, tells McKey —

“You didn’t just serve dress, you served face.”

As this year’s winner, McKey will be awarded a $100,000 modelling contract and a spread in a top magazine, among other perks.

Paula Abdul Leaving American Idol?

Paula AbdulYou know that American Idol is almost here when rumors and controversies make their way to the gossip mill. I am in that firm believe that many of the stuff that came out in the press last year, stuff that barely have nothing to do with whether or not the talents can sing, come from one and the same source — publicists who drum up these news to draw attention to the show.

I watch American Idol as much as the next person addicted to it. In spite of the slide in quality, it is still doing very well in terms of viewership. But I am also aware that it has considerably lost the interest of many other people, who’ve probably figured out that this isn’t really a talent contest but a popularity contest. And this is why they need to resort to all these publicities — to keep the others interested, and maybe sway new people, American Idol virgins, into watching.

There’s one news running this week that reeks so much of publicity drama. It says Paula Abdul intends to leave the show to work on other projects.

According to OK! magazine, the 45-year-old - who has featured on the show for seven years - is developing new TV projects and is hoping to “transition” out of the series.

A source tells the magazine, “She knows that every season could be her last. Now she’s got a new secret venture that she’s really excited about.”

Abdul’s connection with the show has recently left her “saddened” - after alleged stalker Kara Dioguardi, a failed former Idol contestant, was found dead in her car close to the star’s home in Sherman Oaks, California on Tuesday evening. Goodspeed is said to have become obsessed with Abdul after her brief audition on the show in 2006.

But as soon as that news came out, we read a denial from the show’s producers saying she’s not leaving. It’s confusing. It sounds like the handiwork of a publicist and for most people, do you even care?

That’s the first of the controversies, folks. There will be more on the way, especially when Idol returns in January 2009.

Project Runway Season 5 Winner: Leanne Marshall

Published by Rachel under Reality TV Edit This

I haven’t had the chance to watch Season 5 of Project Runaway, but I am aware they have awarded a new winner, Leanne Marshall.

Evidently, she wasn’t a big favorite but when it comes to pulling off her creation, Leanne had everything impeccably done. Most of her designs were cleanly executed and I guess her dedication for it has earned her the top prize.

Her final runway collection definitely had a lot of movement and flow, which she says was inspired by the ocean. But then it was also like watching Origami art on the runway and it was very well coordinated.  Additionally, her models knew what to do with her clothes. It all just worked together.

Here are the collections of the runners up —

Nina Garcia is Running In Heels

Published by Rachel under Reality TV Edit This

Nina Garcia Running in HeelsRelieved from her job as Elle Magazine’s fashion director, Project Runway judge Nina Garcia is moving on and is starring in her own TV show called Running in Heels.

The New York Post says her show will have many of her staff from Marie Claire, the magazine she jumped to after leaving Elle. But what is interesting is that her Elle replacement, Anna Slowey, is also going to have her own show, Stylista, for the CW. Both shows carry a similar premise in that contestants will be competing for a job at the magazines.

While Stylista debuts this fall, Garcia’s Running in Heels won’t air until spring of next year.
