Would you believe that despite being nominated for an acting award in numerous award giving bodies, for her role in Benjamin Button, Taraji P. Henson is currently out of work? The actress, who has been getting rave reviews playing Brad Pitt’s adoptive mom in the critically hailed movie, said this when recently speaking with the press:
“Actually… no. I can’t wait to write my memoir someday and talk about this moment in my life - my name is being bounced around the Oscars, Golden Globes, and all these awards, it’s incredible. And I don’t have a job. Nothing. The industry is really slow right now because of the pending strike, so I am at a standstill. It’s funny that I have all these things going on and no work in sight. It’s very shaky out here.”
I hope someone from television sees this opportunity and takes her for a guest appearance role or the lead!
Taraji crossed my radar while I was watching Eli Stone’s past few episodes this season, where she appeared as recurring guest and without knowing her work on Benjamin Button first, I was already so very impressed with her performance. She played the daughter of Eli’s secretary who got into trouble with the law. Oh, how I loved her delivery there, she was wonderful.

If it’s ultimate girl power you want, then look no further than the series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
I admit I have yet to go through the first season. I have also read that the second season currently airing is not living up to the expectations of network bosses in terms of ratings but, nevertheless, it has been giving a full season order.
In the current season, if the two strong female leads weren’t enough, I understand that they have added yet another kick-ass female cast member in the person of Catherine Weaver. Now, I don’t know what role she plays on this show (don’t spoil me as I’m planning to marathon both seasons consecutively, soon!) but if you’ve been following it, these scenes should be familiar to you. This is a video compilation of the ultimate girl power ensemble in TV today. Men, be very, very afraid of these ladies —

Appropriately, the comedian from Saturday Night Live has given birth to a healthy baby boy on a Saturday. You can almost imagine her SNL friends say “Live From New York — Amy Poehler and her baby!”. In fact, while Saturday Night Live was airing, Amy’s co-anchor on the Weekend Update announced to the audience that Amy was having her baby at that moment. The crowd cheered.
The baby, whom Amy and her husband actor Will Arnett will call as Archie, weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz.
The 37 year old Amy isn’t going to return as regular on Saturday Night Live after her maternity leave. But she will still be returning to television as the star of her new comedy series for NBC. Her new show, which remains untitled to this day, will be set for a mid-season airing early next year.

I think I have made mention of this fact plenty of times: I love Tina Fey!
Right now, she is definitely at the peak of her career:
- Her show just won an Emmy Award, both for Best Comedy and Best Comedy Actress.
- She has just signed a $6Million book deal, which is a huge thing.
- Once 30 Rock returns she will have a lot of A-lists guest on it.
- She is the reason for Saturday Night Live’s rating climb, with her Sarah Palin impression and Sarah Palin loves what she’s doing.
What else is she into? Have you seen this ad with Martin Scorsese?
Tina Fey is on the fast train to the A-List Club. This ad just about confirms it. If there’s any woman so successful on TV right now, it’s probably her.
But the thing about being on top? It’s a long and high fall to the bottom. I hope Tina Fey is managing her new success very well and perhaps slows down and smell the roses a little bit, yeah?

I think Anne Hathaway surprised a lot of people the other night when she hosted Saturday Night Live. She was terrific! She had proper comedic timing. She didn’t look like an idiot while glancing at the cue cards as some hosts do. She sang, she danced, she was enthusiastic, she was so game and joked about herself and her ex-boyfriend during the opening (and it wasn’t even awkward!).
And… she copied Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins!
Here’s a sketch of her singing and defining what Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious means! Watch the video here.
She was indeed a revelation and did a great, great job at hosting!

Tina Fey is probably still up in the clouds enjoying her celebratory win for 30 Rock, the show she created some three years ago. It earned Best Comedy the second time around and Tina Fey also won her acting trophy for it.
But the other brightest star for me is Christina Applegate who has recently battled with the cancer. She appeared on stage looking really beautiful and in the pink of health. I don’t think it matters she lost to Tina Fey.
Here’s the list of women who have been recognized for their performance at last night’s Emmy ceremonies

She doesn’t seem to particularly wear make up a lot. And her wife is so much more model-esque than her. But Ellen DeGeneres has snagged a six-figure contract to endorse Cover Girl cosmetics. Her ads should begin running by January of next year.
The 50 year old popular daytime television talk show host and comedianne, who is still looking quite young in spite of her age, announced this on her show the other day.

“They’re putting some lip liner on me. Man, they love lip liner. I got hours and hours with that girl. She was just there for lip liner. I am very, very excited about it. It’s a very cool thing I’m honored and the photo shoot was “easy, breezy, beautiful … CoverGirl.”
Here’s the video of her announcing this modeling gig:
